Established in 2001 by Fiona Dimas-Herd, INSPIREU® is a specialised practice focusing predominantly on the positive personal development of young people from the age of 13 to 30. As an Educator, Behavioural Strategist and Coach, Fiona Dimas-Herd designs and delivers individual one-on-one sessions. The individualised program builds upon a young person’s innate strengths and resources in order to empower him/her with new knowledge, skills and behaviours. These sessions with Fiona promote: interpersonal skills; positive behaviour; quality of peer and adult relationships; self-control; emotional and physical wellbeing; problem-solving; cognitive competencies; independence; commitment to and achievement in education. Focussing on the five primary youth development areas of competence, confidence, connection, character and caring, INSPIREU® individualised programs aim to develop young people who are safe, healthy, happy, fully engaged in life, and valuable contributors to society, rather than simply problem-free. Fiona’s approach is eclectic and designed to meet the individual needs of the young person using a friendly, supportive style. Underpinning each session are the Relationship Based Strengths Approach (RBSA) assumptions and guiding principles. Approaches used may include; 6-Human Needs Psychology, Neuro-Strategy, Meridian Tapping, Pedagogy, Creative Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence and others.
Fiona aims to to facilitate the development of healthy, happy, effective and successful young people who have resilience in the face of peer pressures and the problems which confront them at this often chaotic time in their lives.

InspireU® also offers small group sessions for teenagers. (participants must have participated in INSPIREU® 1 on 1 sessions prior to joining this group)

Adults

Fiona’s approach is eclectic and designed to meet the individual needs of the client utilizing a friendly, supportive style. Adults commonly attend sessions to: achieve health life balance; learn why we and others behave the way we do; enhance relationship and communication skills; build self confidence; goal setting; anxiety; stress; or simply to have someone listen in a non judgemental way about what is happening in their life.

Fiona Dimas-Herd (LinkedIn)

Fiona is a leading Educator and Behavioural Strategist with over 25 years extensive experience teaching, delivering training programmes and working with individuals to develop their Emotional Intelligence. Within her role at INSPIREU® she is responsible for designing and delivering individual one-on-one sessions as well as delivering tailored Cultivating Emotional Balance training to various groups.

From teenagers through to adults, Fiona teaches, guides, coaches and facilitates the development of new behavioural strategies enabling individuals to get the best from themselves and those around them.

Fiona has worked as the Head Teacher of a large TAFE section and was also Head of Literacy and Numeracy for over 24 years. She has made presentations at State, National and International Conferences on Alternative Education, Child Protection, Learning to Learn, Relationship Based Strengths Approach, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Language Literacy and Numeracy, Youth at Risk,,   Fiona has also been a counsellor at the Global Youth Leadership Summit in San Diego .

As an educator Fiona has a wealth of experience across varied discipline areas. She has designed and delivered alternate education programs for teenagers as well as training for adults and other Educators. Fiona was the founder of the acclaimed YOYO (Youth Options Youth Outcomes) program which she established in Sydney in 1999. The YOYO Program was established on the principles of Positive Psychology, Human Needs Psychology and the Relationship Based Strengths Approach.
Fiona has held a number of leadership positions within the Vocational Education and Training sector and, through such roles, has implemented many positive education interventions aimed at increasing the wellbeing of young people. She is particularly interested in the facilitation of the development of resilience, optimism and values and how these effect a young person’s success in education and life.

Fiona has worked with teachers to develop multidisciplinary learning materials for both teenagers and adults. She has trained and continues to train in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Simple Energy Techniques (SET) and Provocative Energy Techniques (PET) with Australian Energy Psychology pioneers Steve Wells, psychologist, and Dr. David Lake, medical practitioner and psychotherapist.  Fiona has also trained in Undercurrent Therapy and is currently participating in studies in Interpersonal Neurobiology.

As a certified Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) Teacher she delivers CEB courses to the public as well as tailored programs for specific groups including;

Fiona has written articles and a book on Communicating With Teens. She has delivered workshops and papers at local and international conferences including the Australian and New Zealand Adolescent Health Conference.
